Women’s Recovery Group
Once no one talked about women and addictions.
Today we know that substance abuse and addiction is present with our
sisters, mothers, daughters, aunts, and friends and is fast approaching
the same extent as among men. The Summit will be addressing women’s
concerns with their special needs including low self-esteem, attachments
to unhealthy relationships, gender harassment, violence, parenting,
health issues. The goal for women substance abusers in the group is to
maintain abstinence. They will discover healthier ways to make
decisions, and plan a recovery program to sustain recovery. The
difference in a women’s group will be its focus on a strength based
perspective that is empowering for women who are trying to not only get
sober but to experience safety, healthy connections and greater strength
to function in her daily life. This single gender group provides an
early recovery setting for working through self-care and learning new
principles.
